Chantelle’s music is “soulful and organic with a hint of world flavor” featuring such instruments as the Hawaiian ukulele and the African djembe drum. With lyrics that demonstrate a down to earth-ness about real life experience and hooky melodies that emanate from her broad range of musical influences (Fleetwood Mac, John Mayer, Carole King, The Beatles, Jason Mraz, India Arie and Amos Lee to name a few) Chantelle is undoubtedly “an old soul with a new sound”.

A native of Perth Western Australia, Chantelle Barry first caught the public’s eye in 2000 when she won Australia’s version of POPSTARS, earning a coveted spot in the all-girl pop group, Bardot. The group’s debut single, “Poison”, entered the ARIA Singles Chart at 1, where it spent two consecutive weeks, earning a double platinum certification. It became the sixth highest selling single in Australia in 2000, and was the highest selling single by an Australian act that year.

Currently residing in Los Angeles, Chantelle has returned to her singer/songwriter roots and has just completed her debut solo album entitled ‘Simple Things’ which is now available via iTunes. Her songwriting efforts have garnered her a Top 5 Finalist in Songwriters Universe ‘Song Of The Month’ contest, a 3rd place win in the Song of the Year songwriting contest and helped her reach the finals in the Music Nation online music competition. Chantelle was also recently named ‘Top 10 Band’ in the 2009 Indie Music Assault to be held at Paramount studios later this year. Chantelle Barry has toured the local L.A. music scene for 2 years. As well as her residency at the highly acclaimed Genghis Cohen she performs at such venues as Hotel Cafe, The Viper Room, Rm 5 Lounge, Tangier, Saint Rocke, Cat Club and The Mint.
When she is not in the studio you can find Chantelle on both the big and small screens. She has stared in several independent feature films that are set to premiere late 2009 and has most recently appeared as a guest star on Entourage (HBO), How I Met Your Mother (CBS), and has a recurring guest role on 90210 (THE CW) as the Beverly Hills brat ‘Nina’.

Happy Holidays from Rock Solid

Happy Holidays from Rock Solid

Hey kids, Kirri Liepins of Rock Solid will be appearing at this year’s A-Major Music Expo, as part of Newcastle Music Week. Held at Newcastle City Hall, Rock Solid will have a promotional stall in the Trade Hall. Come and say hello!

Sydney three-piece rock outfit mrben will be unleashing their debut album “Night & Day” on the Australian public when they headline at the Annandale Hotel on Wednesday November 19. The album has been four years in the making – in 2005 frontman (and band namesake) Ben Wever teamed up with bassist Leighton Holloway (From The Brink) and drummer Jeff de Araugo (Sarah Blasko). They found an instant creative connection, and their combined talents saw them performing in such respected Sydney venues as the Gaelic Club, the Cat & Fiddle and the Bridge Hotel. The music industry is buzzing about mrben’s debut album, which has been compared to the Foo Fighters but with an Australian flavour. Don’t miss out on witnessing the powerhouse performance of mrben as they unveil “Night & Day” at the Annandale Hotel.

Support acts: Kieran Glasgow, Ngariki and Vaudeville. Tickets $10 pre-sale @ Annandale website. Presented by Ordio Productions and Rock Solid PR & Fanbase Relations.

The Rock Solid website has been begging for a makeover for months, and this evening I finally gave in. The logo has also been given a facelift – the ’silhouette chick’ looks pretty in pink. Your feedback is always welcome!

The blog has not been forgotten, and in the coming days/weeks/months it will host new content, including industry articles, announcements (more of which you’ll be able to access when you sign up to our mailing list - hint hint), important dates to put in your calendar and topic discussions. The first cab off the proverbial rank will be a FAQ, so if you have any questions about Rock Solid you’d like to have answered, please leave a comment.

I’m also very proud to introduce Rock Solid’s latest client. mrben are a three-piece rock outfit hailing from Sydney. The brainchild of established musician Ben Wever, mrben’s strengths lie within their intricate and intense songwriting. Their music is immediately comparable to the Foo Fighters with a distinctly Australian flavour. Join the mailing list and watch this blog to be updated on the release of their upcoming album “Night & Day”.

Rock on!

Kirri

The delectable duo Wohteba continues their reign of the mp3.com.au charts, holding the top position in the Grunge category.

This achievement is thought to be partly due to the excited hype surrounding their upcoming album, which will be available for public consumption soon.

A soon-to-be-released Wohteba track, Run Run, has been used in a mash-up with Britney Spears’ Piece of Me. Download the track here!
