WORLDWIDE, FEBRUARY 3 2010: SKORCH Magazine – the #1 fashion publication for sizes 12 to 28 – is set to become bigger and better in 2010, with the announcement of an exclusive partnership with digital publication firm ZINIO.
ZINIO (www.zinio.com) will release the first digital issue of SKORCH Magazine (www.skorchmagazine.com) in March 2010, which readers can now access with their iPhones and PDA’s as well as desktop computers. The fashion-forward publication will also be sold via the Barnes & Noble website (www.barnesandnoble.com) for just $1 per issue.
For the millions of women who loved MODE Magazine, they now have SKORCH MAGAZINE. Not since MODE has there been a publication to represent the majority of women who are size 12-28 who love dressing fabulous and refuse to wear substandard fashion.
Owner and publisher Jessica Kane (of Kane Kreative) recently announced plans to make SKORCH available in print, but had to postpone a print edition due to limited capital. SKORCH is proud to be a sustainable media source, and the readership is expected to hit over 50,000 subscribers as the magazine becomes more prominent in the mainstream fashion market – the first magazine since MODE to do so.
“As the hip and trendy magazine for 15-35 year old plus-size women, SKORCH understands the limitless potential the internet and social networking allows women craving fresh and fabulous fashion to stay on top of the latest trends, beauty advice and entertainment,” said Jessica.
ABOUT SKORCH MAGAZINE: SKORCH Magazine showcases fashion for the majority, and although the team doesn’t like to use the term “plus-size”, the magazine endorses a body-positive message that women should strive to be the most beautiful, healthy and successful versions of themselves. The magazine’s staff consists of women and men from across the globe, all of whom believe that the number printed on a clothing tag should not limit anybody wishing to look and feel good. In addition to current fashions, SKORCH’s regular content covers many aspects of ‘living large’, including beauty, health and fitness, sex and relationships, finances, families and lifestyles. Readers can subscribe to SKORCH Magazine for as little as $1 per month by visiting www.skorchmagazine.com . SKORCH also offers an ongoing subscription option.

mrben set to rock the Annandale
Sydney three-piece rock outfit mrben will be unleashing their debut album “Night & Day” on the Australian public when they headline at the Annandale Hotel on Wednesday November 19. The album has been four years in the making – in 2005 frontman (and band namesake) Ben Wever teamed up with bassist Leighton Holloway (From The Brink) and drummer Jeff de Araugo (Sarah Blasko). They found an instant creative connection, and their combined talents saw them performing in such respected Sydney venues as the Gaelic Club, the Cat & Fiddle and the Bridge Hotel. The music industry is buzzing about mrben’s debut album, which has been compared to the Foo Fighters but with an Australian flavour. Don’t miss out on witnessing the powerhouse performance of mrben as they unveil “Night & Day” at the Annandale Hotel.
Support acts: Kieran Glasgow, Ngariki and Vaudeville. Tickets $10 pre-sale @ Annandale website. Presented by Ordio Productions and Rock Solid PR & Fanbase Relations.

The Rock Solid website has been begging for a makeover for months, and this evening I finally gave in. The logo has also been given a facelift – the ‘silhouette chick’ looks pretty in pink. Your feedback is always welcome!
The blog has not been forgotten, and in the coming days/weeks/months it will host new content, including industry articles, announcements (more of which you’ll be able to access when you sign up to our mailing list - hint hint), important dates to put in your calendar and topic discussions. The first cab off the proverbial rank will be a FAQ, so if you have any questions about Rock Solid you’d like to have answered, please leave a comment.
I’m also very proud to introduce Rock Solid’s latest client. mrben are a three-piece rock outfit hailing from Sydney. The brainchild of established musician Ben Wever, mrben’s strengths lie within their intricate and intense songwriting. Their music is immediately comparable to the Foo Fighters with a distinctly Australian flavour. Join the mailing list and watch this blog to be updated on the release of their upcoming album “Night & Day”.
Rock on!
Kirri

Chantelle’s music is “soulful and organic with a hint of world flavor” featuring such instruments as the Hawaiian ukulele and the African djembe drum. With lyrics that demonstrate a down to earth-ness about real life experience and hooky melodies that emanate from her broad range of musical influences (Fleetwood Mac, John Mayer, Carole King, The Beatles, Jason Mraz, India Arie and Amos Lee to name a few) Chantelle is undoubtedly “an old soul with a new sound”.
